HP ProCurve Networking Training
We highly recommend ProCurve instructor-led training to
our customers and partners. The classes are well-structured and taught
in a relaxed lab-based environment. Each student has their own laptop
and switch equipment to work with, both individually and in group
projects to set up and troubleshoot everything from physical
connectivity issues to advanced routing and failover techniques.

Eastern US, but classes are available Nationwide.

AEF is the starting point for ProCurve
training. It's a great class, whether you're new to networking or would
benefit from a full-coverage review of basic networking, layer 2
technologies and management. For full course details and per-module
overview, see the link below.
- Define basic networking
technologies for both local and wide area networking and their use in
contemporary networks
- Describe the features and
appropriate deployments for the switch families in the ProCurve
product line
Use the Command-Line Interface (CLI) to configure and monitor ProCurve
switches, routers and access points
- Perform initial configuration
tasks for ProCurve switches, routers and access points including the
assignment of IP addresses
- Configure and monitor VLANs on
ProCurve switches
- Enable high-availability and
high-capacity features such as Spanning Tree and link aggregation on
ProCurve switches
- Configure a ProCurve Access
Point for wireless client connectivity
- Enable traffic prioritization
features on ProCurve switches
- Use ProCurve Manager (PCM) and
ProCurve Manager Plus (PCM+) to manage a ProCurve network
- Design a network based on
ProCurve devices
- Troubleshoot ProCurve devices

ProCurve Routing Switch Essentials (RSE)
RSE is usually the next step after AEF
to build a solid networking foundation and incorporate layer 3
technologies into the training experience. In RSE, you'll cover
everything from network segmentation and static routing to full dynamic
routing and redundant default gateways.
- Device configuration and
management
- VLANs and IP interfaces
- Enabling port trunking
- Providing redundant links
- Providing redundant default
gateways
- Designing and configuring IP
networks
- Configuring OSPF
- Defining and applying ACLs

Effective network management is key for configuration
management, device discovery and management, traffic monitoring and
network security. The PCM class covers not only PCM (the free management
software included with all ProCurve switches), it also delves into
advanced network management with ProCurve Manager Plus (PCM+) as well as
the Identity Driven Manager (IDM) and ProCurve Mobility Manager (PMM)
add-ins. This training is essential for managing your ProCurve network
components.
- Installing and configuring the software
- Overview of the interfaces
- Device management tools and reporting
- Using PCM to manage software updates
- Configuration Manager overview in PCM
- VLAN Manager overview
- Policy Manager & automated configuration management
- Evaluating the network with Traffic Monitor
- Reviewing Events & Alerts
- Extending with Configurable Integration Platform
(CIP)
- Using IDM for authorization control, RADIUS
integration and 802.1X
- Using PMM to manage wireless devices, radios and
configuration
